Keyboard Mazes
Using keyboard arrows is an excellent way to familiarize your children with coordination and spatial awareness before moving on to script writing. Here is a selection of free websites, with no registration required, where you move a character using the keyboard arrows (↑, ↓, ←, →).
1. “Pure Fun” Mazes (Direct Control)
These sites offer classic mazes to practice reflexes and spatial orientation.
- Lulu the Mole (Labyrinthes): A must-have. You can choose between three levels (easy, medium, hard). The character moves very simply with the arrows.
- Educational Games (Le Labyrinthe): A 15-level game that progressively increases in difficulty. Very clean, ideal for avoiding distractions from ads or busy graphics.
- Turbulus (Panda Mazes): A bit more playful, with 30 levels. The goal is to help little pandas escape while avoiding obstacles. This adds a strategic layer (avoiding traps) to simple navigation.
2. “Logic & Math” Mazes
To go a step further than simple movement, these games add a thinking rule.
- Labymaths (Jeuxmaths.fr): To get out, you must collect objects in a specific order or answer small math operations while moving with the arrows. Perfect for 8-year-olds who are starting to handle numbers well.
